Today was quite a day. I had 2 appointments this afternoon. One was a dental cleaning that I had recheduled like 2 or 3 times already and the other appointment was with my OB/GYN for my post surgery follow-up.
Thank goodness Dan works from home and when days like this come up, he's here to help with Lucy. I normally would have asked my mom to come in but she is busy this week and was not available to help. My thinking was that since my dental appt. was at 1pm, Lucy would be napping during a good portion of the afternoon while I was gone. My OB appt was for 3:15 so I just planned to stay out and run some errands in my time between appointments. I was hoping to avoid Dan losing an entire afternoon of work. Lucy's been taking pretty good naps lately so at most he would lose about 1.5 hours.
I went to get my teeth cleaned. I don't actually like the process of getting my teeth cleaned. I hate hearing the sound of that tool scraping against my teeth. Ugh, it's awful. But, I do like the way my teeth feel when it's all said and done. I thought I was going to get out of there with a good report...no such luck. I have a cavity. Can't wait to go back and get that filled! ( can you hear the sarcasm?)
I went to Target afterwards to get a few things and while pushing my cart through the toy dept. my phone rings. It's Dan. Lucy has refused to take a nap. He had to go get her because after about an hour of playing she started getting upset and he could hear her gagging over the monitor. He checked on her just in time too cause she was trying to climb out! She got in BIG trouble for that! I told him that at this point she probably would not go to sleep and she'd just have to stay up and then be in bed early. Luckily she was very cooperative even without a nap and she sat in Dan's office and watched a few videos while he got some work done.
I then went to my OB appt. and of course had to wait and wait and wait. It was about an hour before I saw the doctor. This was just a follow-up from my D&C and then we talked about the referral to the Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility doctor. I have an appointment with them in about 3 weeks. I'm not sure what all testing they will be doing, but I was told that to expect to be there 1.5-2 hours. I'm anxious to go and find out what they say.
Thank goodness for my menu this week and for planning ahead. I didn't get home till after 5pm and supper was almost ready in the crockpot. I just needed to boil some noodles to go with it and it was ready. Love that crockpot!
I tried a new crockpot recipe tonight and was pleasently surprised. We all enjoyed it and this will definitely be one that we have again.
Here's the recipe:
Zesty Crockpot Chicken
4 chicken breasts, thawed ( could easily up this to 5-6 and be fine)
1 can cream of chicken
1 package Good Seasons dry Italian dressing mix
1 tsp dried parsley
1 cup water
1 8 oz block cream cheese (I used the 1/3 less fat)
Put all the ingredients EXCEPT the CREAM CHEESE into the crockpot. An hour before serving add the cream cheese. Once the cheese melts and gets soft you'll want to give it all a good stir. I shredded the chicken with 2 forks and served this over whole wheat wide noodles. You could also try it over rice. I had a hard time deciding which to use.
Such a easy and delicious meal.
By the way, Lucy went to bed at 7pm. After I put her in bed I didn't hear a peep. She must have fallen asleep pretty quick.
