It's true that children of Lucy's age are like little sponges and they soak up learning and information at record speed. I'm constantly amazed at how and what Lucy already knows.

Last night we made a quick trip to Kroger (and it was wonderful to be able to pick out my own produce) and while I was looking, Dan was walking around with Lucy and talking about all kinds of different things. For some reason he started telling her about syllables and the number of sounds that words have. Lucy picked right up on it and did really well with telling us the number of syllables that a word had.

While drying her hair after bath tonight I was trying to get her to stand still so I started asking her about syllables again and would give her a word and ask her how many sounds she heard. She did really well and got just about all the ones I asked her. The words that had 4 syllables gave her a little more trouble, but I was still surprised that at 2 years old she could grasp this concept and have pretty good accuracy at doing it. 

She never fails to amaze me!!
